SPMN Postural Management Subgroup
The postural management subgroup was formed in 2001 as a result of a recognition by referrers and providers of gaps in the management of postural deformity, following the SSWG seminar on the subject held in Stirling. There was no structure to bring together the various practitioners involved in postural management, to educate other professionals or to address key issues, so the subgroup was formed for this purpose.
“The aim of the postural management subgroup is to promote integrated postural management as a clinical speciality in Scotland.”
As part of its work, the postural management subgroup facilitates working teams (generally three) to explore issues relevant to postural management. Currently these teams are focusing on:
- Outcome measures and risk assessment
- Professional awareness and training in postural management
- Review of equipment
Current progress of these groups and the work of previous teams can be viewed by using the links to the left.
The Postural Management Subgroup has events planned throughout the year. For contact details or to get involved in the subgroup contact enquiries@spmn.org.uk.
- Next Postural Management Subgroup meeting is to be on Thursday 28th August 2008 at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline, 10am for 10.30am start.
